ScanFreePDF is designed to be a privacy-first tool. We collect minimal information necessary to provide our services:

• Uploaded files: PDF and document files you upload for processing. These are stored temporarily and automatically deleted.
• Session data: A temporary session ID to track your files during a single session.
• Usage logs: Pages visited, IP address, browser type, and which tools you use — for analytics and improving our service.
• Technical data: Browser type, operating system, and general location (country/city level from IP).

We do not require account registration, email addresses, or any personal identification to use our tools.

2 How We Use Your Files

Files you upload are:

• Processed on our servers to perform the PDF operation you requested (merge, compress, convert, etc.).
• Stored in an isolated, session-specific folder accessible only during your session.
• Automatically deleted within 2 hours of upload.
• Never shared with third parties, indexed, or used for any purpose other than your requested operation.

3 Data Retention

We follow a strict minimal-retention policy:

• Uploaded files & processed results: Automatically deleted after 2 hours.
• Session logs: Anonymized usage statistics are kept for up to 12 months for service improvement.
• No personal data is retained after your session ends since we don't collect it.

You can also delete your files immediately at any time using the delete option in the tool interface.

4 Cookies & Tracking

We use minimal, privacy-respecting cookies:

• Session cookie: A single cookie to maintain your session and link your uploaded files to your browser. This is essential for the service to work and expires when you close your browser.
• No advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies are used.
• No cross-site tracking. We do not track you across other websites.

5 Data Security

We take the security of your files seriously:

• All file transfers are encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
• Files are stored in isolated directories inaccessible from the public web.
• Each user's files are separated by a unique session ID — other users cannot access your files.
• Automatic deletion ensures files don't accumulate on our servers.

6 Third-Party Services

ScanFreePDF processes all files on our own servers. We do not send your files to any third-party cloud services or AI platforms.

We may use the following third-party services for the website itself (not your files):

• Google Fonts — for typography (no files are shared).
• CDN services — for delivering static JavaScript libraries.

7 Your Rights

Since we don't collect personal information tied to your identity, most traditional data rights (access, deletion requests) are not applicable. However:

• You can delete your uploaded files at any time using the delete button in the interface.
• You can clear all session files using the "Clear All" option.
• All your files are automatically deleted within 2 hours regardless.

8 Children's Privacy

ScanFreePDF is a general-purpose document tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used our service, please contact us and we will ensure any related data is deleted.

9 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
